December 16, 2020
As we prepare to celebrate our Lord’s birth, we have every reason to rejoice and be filled with gratitude during this holy season! Once again, thank you for your many kindnesses and warm welcome since my arrival to St. Leo the Great in early August. I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to meet many of you and eagerly look forward to everyone eventually returning to Holy Mass in the New Year.
While the obligation to attend Holy Mass is still lifted, below is the Christmas Mass schedule. Due to the limited seating capacity of the church, and the necessity for social distancing, we will do our best to accommodate you either in the church or in the activity center. Please be patient and understanding if we reach capacity. It is very difficult to gauge how many will feel comfortable coming to Christmas Mass during the pandemic.
As you prayerfully consider your end of the year charitable giving, please remember the parish in your tithing. It is estimated that only about 40% of our parishioners are going to Holy Mass now and this has significantly impacted our general offertory. Although I’m happy to report that we met our Priests’ Retirement and Benefits goal, we are still $5,000 short of our DSA assessment. I will give an updated six-month financial report next month. Thank you to those who have continued to financially support the church during these challenging times.
Please be assured of my prayers as we anticipate the coming of the Lord.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
